Medical Assistant
CLASSES ARE ONGOING AND ACCEPTING ENROLLEES
Medical Assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and other numerous healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. The Medical Assisting course is a total of 27 weeks.
Among the duties they perform:
Answer phone calls and schedule patient appointments
Prepare and file patient records
Assist doctors with patient examinations
Perform vital signs
Perform basic laboratory procedures
Prepare and administer medications ordered
Prepare patients to undergo exams and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 18 years of age
- 17 year old enrollees must obtain a written parental consent
- Copy of HS diploma, certificate of high school equivalency, GED, or certificate of accreditation of courses if a foreign graduate.
- If unable to provide proof, then prospective enrollee must pass the Wonderlic.
- Must pass interview with admission committee.
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO EXTERNSHIP:
- Negative PPD test, or chest X-Ray report.
- Complete physical examination report
- Proof of immunization: MMR (Mumps, Mealses, Rubella), Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis
- TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis)
If you believe that you have been exposed to the above diseases except for Tetanus, or have had the disease itself you may submit a copy of the laboratory result showing the Titer in place of immunization as proof of the presence of antibodies as protection in the event of exposure in the clinical area.
